After purchasing the upgrade to ChatMate for WhatsApp nothing changed and the App asks me to purchase the upgrade again.

First of all we would like to thank you for choosing to upgrade to the new ChatMate for WhatsApp.

After the purchase of the upgrade has been completed it is important to also install and use the new ChatMate for WhatsApp instead of trying to go on using the discontinued App for WhatsApp.

As for upgrading, there are three options (In-App-Upgrade, Mac App Store and Setapp), also the solution differs by the way you choose to upgrade. Please choose the according option below:

  • In-App-Upgrade:
    1. Please download the new ChatMate for WhatsApp Disk Image from this website (Download Link).
    2. Open the downloaded downloaded Disk Image file.
    3. Move the ChatMate for WhatsApp bundle to your Applications folder.
    4. Open ChatMate for WhatsApp by double clicking on the icon in your Applications folder.
    5. Choose "Enter Activation Number" in the licensing dialog that will pop up during the launch of the app.
    6. Enter the license key from the eMail that was sent to you shortly after purchasing the upgrade by our service partner "Paddle". The Subject line is "Your ChatMate for WhatsApp Paddle.com Order". If you did not receive the eMail please contact us and we will re-send your personal product key.
    7. (Optional but recommended) Remove the old App for WhatsApp from your Mac as highlighted in this Knowledge Base.
  • Mac App Store:
    1. Download the new ChatMate for WhatsApp via the Mac App Store (Mac App Store Link) and make sure to only use the new ChatMate for WhatsApp in the future.
    2. (Optional but recommended) Remove the old App for WhatsApp from your Mac as highlighted in this Knowledge Base.
  • Setapp:
    1. Download the new ChatMate for WhatsApp via the standalone Setapp Installer App and make sure to use the new ChatMate for WhatsApp in the future.
    2. (Optional but recommended) Remove the old App for WhatsApp from your Mac as highlighted in this Knowledge Base.

After launching the App all I see is a QR-Code. What should I do?

Please either carefully read and perform the steps as written in the following instructions or watch our instructions video (visit YouTube).

  1. Depending on the brand of your smartphone please perform the following:
    • iPhone: Open WhatsApp App on your iPhone > go to Settings > WhatsApp Web > Scan QR-Code.
    • Android: Open WhatsApp App on your phone > in the Chats screen > Menu > WhatsApp Web.
    • Windows Phone: Open WhatsApp App on your phone > go to Menu > WhatsApp Web.
  2. Scan the QR-Code in the ChatMate for WhatsApp window from your phone.

ChatMate for WhatsApp on your Mac and WhatsApp on your phone are now paired. The App is ready for sending and receiving WhatsApp messages.
